Tackling Racial Inequalities:

Reducing Imbalances in Employment, Education and Training

The Network for Black Professionals (NBP) is one of the successful organisations currently in receipt of financial support from the Department of Communities and Local Government (CLG) through the Tackling Racial Inequalities Fund (TRIF). The Network will offer a broad range of professional development opportunities over the next two years to a range of colleagues in public and Voluntary and Community Sector organisations, some of which will be tailored from the Network’s award winning Black Leadership Initiative. This positive action programme attracts a 100% subsidy through CLG.

Innovative training and development opportunities available through the project include:

  • Mentor Training workshops for leaders & senior managers
  • Mentee Induction workshops for aspiring BAME (Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic) managers & leaders
  • Mentor/mentee relationships - BAME participants matched with senior managers & leaders for a period of 12 months, to mentor & coach them towards agreed objectives
  • Diversity in Action workshops for leaders, managers and staff to develop their intercultural competencies
  • Regional Career Development Workshops for BAME participants
  • High profile Civic Leadership shadowing opportunities for aspiring BAME leaders & senior managers
  • Public sector work shadowing opportunities for aspiring BAME managers
